Markku Purhos career as a magician started in 1962 at Christmas party of volunteer fire-brigade. When his magician performances increased, he found company “Markku Purho” in 1974 and company’s line of business was to arrange shows and programmatic entertainment, import and export of magician and carnival products and wholesale business. Company ran in earliest years in addition Markku’s shows a small arrangement of magician products to enthusiasts and professionals. Business expanded also little by little to wholesale business. The first Karnevaalikauppa (Carnival shop) opened 1987 in Kouvola.
Since 1974, Markku Purho has diligently travelled around Finland as a professional entertainer. He has developed all the time new tricks and hysterical characters to the most diverse affairs. Undoubtedly, Markku Purho belongs to big time magicians and entertainers in Finland. Also foreign colleagues appreciate him as a master of magic and comedy.
Since 1992, Markku Purho Ky (limited partnership) has acted as a representative of the Dutch GRIMAS make-up line in Finland. Along with Grimas product line, became a thought of opening an own shop to Helsinki. Carnival shop Aprilli in Helsinki opened in 1994. A few years later opened another Aprilli shop in Tampere and it is nowadays owned by Kirsi Timperi and serves as a franchise shop. Another successful franchise shop is Aprilli in Kuopio. In 2007, Markku Purho Ky bought a Magic shop called Taikapuoti from Martti Kallioinen. The shop situated in Jyväskylä and it was changed into Karnevaalikauppa Aprilli.
Markku Purho Ky is also a pioneer in internet selling, the first store opened already on side of the past millennium. Now, in the net is already the fifth generation of internet selling. Turnover of Markku Purho Ky is at the moment over one million euros. The company has seven full-timers and several part-time workers in the employ.
